The National Safety Council Congress and Expo is in full swing in Atlanta.  The conference kicked off Monday with the exhibit hall open through Wednesday, September 30 and sessions coming to a close on Friday, October 2.  Congress and Expo is the largest safety conference in the US, attracting thousands of professionals and vendors in the safety industry.  This year’s conference is on track to hit, and possibly surpass, the roughly 14,000 attendee record set in 2014. The National Safety Council’s membership is comprised of organizations that are dedicated to the safety and health of their workers.

The hot topics at this year’s conference include the following:

  • Adjusting to the GHS updates that went into effect earlier this year
  • Workplace Violence
  • Building and maintaining your safety culture
  • Safety Leadership
  • Occupational Illness

Although it’s not the first time we’ve heard many of these topics, it shows that the need is there to continue to drive engagement with EH&S at all levels of the organization, and the incredibly important role safety professionals play in making this happen.

NSC

All week long pictures have been rolling to Twitter with the hashtag #safetyselfie.  From attendees to NSC CEO Deborah Hersman, Twitter was full of safety industry professionals filling the newsfeed with pics from the conference.  The NSC booth in the expo hall featured selfie accessories that anyone could use to dress up their #safetyselfie.  Check out the NSC Twitter feed to see the pics.
